Pescaviva is a line of flavored and colored canned corns produced in Italy specifically for use in angling. They are enormously popular baits in Italy, The United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Portugal, Sweden and other Western and Eastern European Countries. In those countries, it has been found to be suitable for nearly all freshwater species, especially carp, trout, bream, chub, tench, barbel and catfish. It has rarely been available in North America but has acquired near mythical status among those few anglers who have been lucky enough to get a few cans. We know that it is a super bait for carp, trout and panfish but we have barely begun to realize the potential of these baits in North America. The Pescaviva Web Site provides a wealth on information on the products. Pescaviva sweetcorn was recently reviewed by noted British angler Andy Little in Angler's Mail (March 13, 1999). After a five year test he found it to be "confidence in a can" and "the best quality bait that I have seen in a can."
The corn comes in an approximately 15oz can with a tear-off top and a resealable
plastic lid. Each can contains about 1000 kernels with a drained weight of
285 grams. The liquid is brilliant when mixed with a ground bait. The unopened
cans have an indefinite shelf life. Leftovers may be stored in the fridge
or freezer.
We offer the Pescaviva products in three forms. The Traditional corn is comprised of large, crisp grains and is suitable for most styles of fishing. The grains are much superior to conventional canned corn in that they are not soft and mushy and do not fly off the hook when cast. Available in Vanilla, Cream Caramel, Chocolate, Honey, Strawberry, Tutti-Frutti, Cherry, Trout Pellet, Scopex and Aniseed. The Competition corn has very tender and small grains making it perfect for panfish and for match fishing. Available in natural (black kernels), vanilla and strawberry. The Creams are liquefied sweetcorn kernels, sweetened and flavored. They are used as the liquid in the preparation of ground baits as well as in dough baits and boilies. Try mixing it with any of the smaller seeds (red or white dari, rape seed, buckwheat or wheat), with corn meal or even with bread crumbs for a super fish magnet. When tossed into the water the creams form a highly attractive cloud that will attract fish of every sort. Available in Vanilla, Strawberry, Natural, Scopex, Trout Pellet and Tutti-Frutti.
