Named after Chicago's Wacker Drive, the street that leads to America's finest urban fishery - The Chicago River, and a nod to "whacker' - a British term for an especially fine carp.

Paul Pezalla, the founder and head of Wacker Bait & Tackle, has been a dedicated carp angler since the late 1960's. He attended college at the University of Minnesota, fortuitously situated on the banks of the Mississippi River. Between sessions on the river, he managed to earn a PhD specializing in animal physiology. The knowledge gained there and in his subsequent career as a research scientist and university professor gave him a sound background for the rational development of baits.
